A total of over $39000 is needed to continue to provide Bear Path students with experiences and enrichment*. The PTA needs to raise an average of $100 per student.
Field Trips:
The cost per school bus for an out of town field trip is nearly $300? Most grades require at least 2 school buses. When you add admission fees to the $600 in transportation costs, some field trips can cost nearly $1000. Field trip costs are not paid for by the town.
The PTA provides $25 per student so our teachers can plan enrichment outside of the classroom for all students, and keep costs down for all Bear Path families.
Classroom and Grade-Based Enrichment:
Did you know that educators often pay out of pocket for classroom supplies and equipment?
The Bear Path PTA provides our teachers and staff with classroom allotments so they can purchase necessary supplies for classrooms that are comfortable, organized, welcoming, and enriching. Our Scholastic Book Fair raises Scholastic Dollars teachers can use in addition to the classroom allotments. Scholastic Dollars can be used for books, educational materials, and classroom equipment.
School Wide Enrichment:
Education also comes from outside of the classroom. Events like Literacy Night, Math Night, Field Day and the education our Art, Music, Physical Education, Literacy Specialist, Math Specialist, and Media Specialist provide are so important to enriching our students.
The Bear Path PTA raises funds to support these programs and classrooms.
Community:
It is important that Bear Path School is a welcoming community, and supports the larger community around us.
The Bear Path PTA provides a scholarship each year to a graduate of Hamden High School. The PTA thanks and recognizes our dedicated teachers and staff throughout the year. A Bear Path PTA membership also supports CT and National PTA endeavors.
Operating Expenses:
Dues, insurance, technology, and the costs of hosting events are all part of being a PTA. Costs would be MUCH higher without the help from our amazing parent volunteers.
To make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children,
To encourage communication and foster positive relationships between students, their families, PTA members, teachers, and staff.
To promote school spirit and pride.
To provide opportunities for families to come together, have fun, and enjoy time making wonderful memories.
*costs are approximate, subject to change based on enrollment, and not all-inclusive. Budget for 25-26 school year will be voted on by members at the September 9, 2025 meeting.
